Paula Elkin, LPC

Licensed Professional Counselor

We are all navigating our own unique journey and must find a way to respond to the things that knock us off our path. Depression, anxiety, helplessness, confusion, and fear are common reactions. Therapy can help create a new path that results in a secure sense of self-worth, purpose, and improved quality of life. We don't always choose the things that change the course of our lives, but we can choose how to react to them. Seeking therapy is a courageous step and I am here to help.

As your therapist I can provide support to find effective coping strategies. My hope is to create a safe environment to explore your emotions and issues that brought you to counseling. My style is both direct and nurturing, via an eclectic approach to best support long-term well-being in your daily life.  I have over ten years of experience working with individuals living with and overcoming trauma, childhood abuse/neglect, divorce, loss of identity, and a variety of other life challenges. I believe in compassionate, direct feedback to help you get where you want to be.  It is my role to help you navigate and understand a new path that you feel confident walking.
I believe therapy is a collaborative process between the client and myself. I understand that everyone has unique needs, so it is always my goal to learn from you and to have you guide your sessions. Of course, I am always here to help when you are feeling stuck. With each person, I use a unique and tailored approach, while also incorporating my knowledge of evidence-based practices and theories. I want to help you develop the confidence to help yourself, and the self-compassion and self-forgiveness that will keep you moving forward.
