Monique Najera
Social Work Student Intern
As a student in the Master of Social Work Program at University of Kentucky, I am excited to continue building my skillsets to better serve the individuals and families of Virginia!
With a background in child welfare and as a military veteran, I have worked closely with others left to deal with the aftermath of traumatic events. From those experiences, I realized that, a lot of the time, our clients just need to be heard and feel a genuine sense of compassion and understanding, as well as a willingness from us as therapy professionals to walk down those paths less traveled alongside them. I cannot promise to have the solutions to all that life throws your way, but I can lend a compassionate ear and walk you through some of the skills and techniques (CBT, DBT) that I am continuously working to develop in a way that makes me a more effective professional.
Another aspect of my background that has helped me with the difficult conversations and situations is that I do rely heavily on my Faith, and welcome clients from all backgrounds to explore the empowering nature of what exists within each and every one of us to live our lives day by day acknowledging even the seemingly small wins.
Currently accepting self-pay clients with low cost rate.
